Job Scam: Impex Consult Financial Consulting Group

Heads up -- a new name in job scams is on the radar for December: "Impex Consult Financial Consulting Group". This appears to be the same job scam gang responsible for Athens Financial Group Ltd, based on their common use of name server hosts. As usual, they want you to be a financial middle man -- or mule -- for stolen funds. This one is quite active: I've seen three different domain names covering the same scam in the past few days.

It won't be bad. cyanate averring Constant Reader had just become Merciless Editor.

You were also Scheherazade to yourself, he thought, and looked at the barbecue pot. Blood ran from the rat's mouth in an abrupt thin stream. I'm getting as bad as she is, he thought once. "Of course not,»she said, bitterly sarcastic. "Well, Geoffrey rode for the doctor,»she said. He remembered the caption below the picture of Annie in her detainment cell, the picture taken in the caesura between the end of the trial and the return of the jury. The urge to laugh had dissipated when he realized that Annie might know everything about the deus ex machina except the name. bespectacled

I got IMPEX email today, and like you guys, found this blog.

Keep blogging peeps.

Same here, I just got an email that they are recruiting and to check out the website. Learninh from my previous bad experience, I always check out the website to see if they are legit but this one is not and their web host page is listed as www.im-consult.biz/e/
Should be ashamed of themselves. Lazy people trying to steal money that others have worked hard to save.

Exactly the same time I updated my resume online is when I began to get an email from Impex at a rate of 10-15 per day.

I literally get 7 emails from this company a DAY and its getting annoying.. you guys knows any way to get it to stop? it goes right to my spam folder, but i don't even want it in there!

I've been getting these for the last two or three weeks. The latest one is from "Impex Consult Financial Consulting Group", but shows in the spam filter as "Slater.Marjorie@walla.com". Someone is probably cruising Monster, CareerBuilder, or Dice and picking up email addresses for those of us looking for new jobs or contracts.

spam the spammer?

checking for im-consult.biz at whois.internic.net returns the name of the owner of the domain and his email address:

Michael Hamerlik
michaelhamerlik@usa.com

http://reports.internic.net/cgi/whois?whois_nic=im-consult.biz&type=domain

This particular gang registers each and every new domain name using a different freemail account. It seems reasonable to suppose that they register the domain using that email address, then abandon it. I think you'd be wasting your time if you attempted to mailbomb them.

Folks, if you're trying to block Impex spam, try blocking on the sender name matching "Impex", not the sender address (which is different every single time, and never their own address anyhow). For further information, see here.

I just got this email, and from a REALLY bad experience with a company called Western-Transportation Ltd. I will not even bother, I got the same email and after reading through it decided it sounded fishy, and not to mention, the website font type looks the same as many other scam websites that I have been too. Watch out folks!

Hi Folks,

Regarding "Impex", I have received as many as ten e-mails per day from these folks since the later part of December. I am using the SBCGlobal (Yahoo) mail system and do not have the Spam Guard turned "On", so I tend to receive everything. Of course, I do not respond nor do I ever open any attachments.

Keep your personal guard "up" (common sense, eh!).

I have my resume up on a few of the job sites and I have received 4 emails from these guys yesterday. The subject in the first email said "part-time job" to now reading "prestigious part-time job".

For those out there looking for jobs...I know it is exciting to see a company wanting "you" however if any company emails me...I technically raise a red flag to it cuz if they are a legitimate company...wouldn't they be getting a number of qualified applicants emailing them about jobs not the other way around.

Just to be on the safe side...whenever I have a company email me about a job I will google their name and 9 times out of 10 the first things that come up on a search are websites like "ideceive" and scam websites. Go figure.

Just always keep a heads up out there folks.

I am looking for a job, bit when I saw a company looking for me...I was ready to pack up and move, but then I noticed where they were asking for my bank account...Haha...did I mention I am from Nigeria? I can smell a scam before it hits the stove...don't do it. You'll hate yourself....nigerians do not play.

THey have worn me OUT!!! I had to get another e-mail address. I have sent complaints to the BBB and the FCC, please do the same.

If you get a new email address, be sure to keep it as private as you can. If you publish it on the web (like I have with mine on this blog), you'll get loads of spam quite soon. Bear in mind that some mailing lists publish web archives, and posting to such a list may expose your address to spammers.

I just received an email from Impex Consult Financial Consulting Group. I immediatedly looked them up on the Internet and saw many "Job Scam" warnings. I think they get email domains/addresses from job sites like Monster, CareerBuilder, and others with public email address. Something should be done to stop scammers like these!

I know for a fact that this group got my email from Careerbuilder. I started receiving email from the every day for the past 3 weeks since I posted my resume and it is the ONLY place a posted my resume. To date, I have received 93 emails from IMPEX Consult Consulting group in 21 days. You do the math... Since Careerbuilder seems to be the outfit providing access to companies like this, I am seriously considering a class-action against Careerbuilder. At the very least I am going to the media about it.

Anonymous said...

Same for me. As soon as I posted my resume on CareerBuilder I started receiving spam from Impex Consulting Financial. It gets put in my spam folder but they send a ridiculous amount every day (up to 15). I sent a note to CareerBuilder about it and they wrote back saying that it was a legitimate company and a legitimate job offer. I wrote back again and quoted the first line of two or more emails and explicitly communicated that it was spam and not legitimate. Not to mention what everyone else here has said about them being a scam. Everyone should hound CareerBuilder (if you have a resume posted there) about them and maybe get them booted from searching resumes and messing with job seekers.

I get over 10 emails a day from Impex Consult Financial. It is totally a scam but is there any way to stop these emails?

Spotter said...

If your email client supports filtering rules, set up one to delete any incoming message where the sender name matches "Impex Consult". I describe how to do this on Gmail here.

THE SOLUTION!
When I get recurring emails like this I like to go to their sites and enter fake details.
If everyone did this they would end up flooded with as many pointless emails as we are.
Plus, as I have given them fake bank details, names and security questions there is a good chance now they might get caught trying to steal someone's money when they don't have the correct details.
Imagine if everyone who recieved that email filled out their online form once a day with made up details, their opperation would become a waste of time for them - they would never filter out the forms of those who have really been scammed by them.
